RPC Helps Rebuild Nepal

Since its launch in 1987, Reston Painting & Contracting has been committed to giving back to the community by donating time, supplies, and money to many local causes. While RPC will continue its commitment to help those in need locally, RPC founder, David Hamilton announced this week that RPC will begin contributing a percentage of the company’s profits to help rebuild earthquake torn Nepal. David made his first journey to Everest exactly 26 years ago and he spent a great deal of time in Katmandu and surrounding areas in Nepal. Found the people, buildings, and land unlike anywhere else in the world. This earthquake was the biggest in more than 80 years impacting more than 8 million people. Helping these people get basic needs and shelter in going to take years and tremendous resources.

“I’ve always been fascinated with Asia and the great Everest. I made my first trip to the area in 1989 and it was definitely a life changing experience. The people of Nepal where amazing and kind. As a lover of architecture and building, I was fascinated by the materials and the designs of the ancient buildings and even their traditional homes. It’s sad to see these beautiful buildings crushed. I can only imagine how hard even day to day life is for the people of Nepal and the travelers who were caught in this devastating situation” says David Hamilton.

In 2005, David went back Everest on a National Geographic expedition guided Peter Hillary. David stills stays in touch with Peter and will be contributing to the Himalayan Trust which was founded by Peter’s father Sir Edmund Hillary in 1960. Few people love the area or know more about this land then Sir Edmund and Peter Hillary. David got a completely different view of Everest on this trip and feels very fortunate to have traveled to Everest with Peter Hillary.
